The best dive experiences on the planet are run by small, independent hosts — a local divemaster in Bali, a family operation in Komodo, a passionate instructor in Mexico. They know every reef, every current, every hidden waterfall. Their cousin drives the transfers. Their grandmother cooks the meals.
But they are invisible online. They cannot compete with resort marketing budgets. They do not have professional photographers or web designers. The infrastructure to serve international guests — credit card processing, multi-currency payments, English-language marketing, customer support — costs more than most operators earn in a year.
